Teens & Traffic Stops

A Teens and Traffic Stops class is presented periodically to teach teens how to respond if they get pulled over.

Concealed Carry Permit Classes

Concealed Carry Permit classes are offered for the public to complete the certification required to obtain a Louisiana Concealed Carry License.

Women's Self Defense

A class is offered to teach women self-defense techniques to help protect themselves from assault.

Continuing education and training for law enforcement is essential to improve skills, increase professionalism, and enhance overall job performance.

Public Safety Complex Opens in Wallace

A public safety complex was built in Wallace to increase police, fire and medical presence on the west bank.

Stemming an Uptick in Gun Violence

A recent initiative aimed at stemming an uptick in gun violence in St. John the Baptist Parish resulted in almost two dozen firearms taken off the streets as well as several arrests, Sheriff Mike Tregre has announced.

Students Tour the LBJ Training Center
Students at East St. John High School in Reserve learned about career opportunities as well as the operations of St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office during a visit this morning (March 27, 2024) to the Lloyd B. Johnson Law Enforcement Training Center in LaPlace.
Captain Greg Baker spoke to the students about life choices and making good decisions.
Othe officers talked about careers in law enforcement ranging from 911 communications to information technology to drone operations and from patrol to corrections to SWAT. They also spoke about the continuous training for law enforcement, which is essential to improve skills, increase professionalism, and enhance overall job performance.
Demonstrations on the use of robotics and a taser were among the highlights.
Students also were led on a tour the training center and shooting range.
